Strawberry Hill Gothic Attic Extension - Side view

Our clients came to us with a brief to create an attic extension to a much altered Welsh farmhouse. In the 1970's the buildings had been extended with classical styled extensions following initial designs by Quinlan Terry. Our proposals created an additional storey in place of a flat roof over a late 20th century part, with additional accommodation in a pre-existing attic on the entrance courtyard side of the house. The site of the house in a National Park location meant that the strictest planning restraint was in place, however, the local conservation officer gave his backing to our approach involving a regency gothic styled extension, with natural stone battlements and pinnacles made by Joslins of Oxford.
